Letters: French banks act like our money is theirs to keep

Your recent article on French banks was very interesting – thank you.

We are New Zealanders and our experience with Crédit Agricole has been bemusing, to say the least. 

We love France, but the banking system is very hard to comprehend. 

If you have a debit card in New Zealand, and money in your account, you can spend it. After all, it is your money.

Crédit Agricole behaves as if our money is theirs! It tells us we can spend a maximum amount per day or per month – of our own money! Incomprehensible!
