Letters: Avoid Bordeaux Airport if you can

Readers call it an 'eyesore', with long queues, few seats and lack of air conditioning

Bordeaux Airport hopes to improve its services with a €100m investment

To the Editor,

Terminal Billi, for low-cost airlines, is awful. Avoid, particularly in a heatwave. The main hall has no air conditioning and you cannot get in through the door for the crowds of people.

My husband had preferential treatment with his disability but only because he asked in the main building for an escort. A family with a disabled child had to take their chance.

Once through security (again, we were luckily escorted to the front of the queue), a snack from the cafe was virtually inedible – so salty. Queuing to get onboard is always hot, crowded, with very few seats.

The main airport buildings are reasonable, though there is only one small cafe after security. Last time only a single lift was working in the whole building.

The attitude of staff is always exemplary and very helpful towards us.

Our family usually visits in the summertime and they all speak of Billi with horror. When we pick them up, there is a tiny waiting room with a bench, very uncomfortable.

To the Editor,

For such an amazing and historical city to have such an eyesore for an international airport is appalling.

I have been in Third World countries that are significantly better appointed, with better food and drink outlets. It just looks dirty and grimy all the time!
